Barbie’s Story

Barbie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Barbie, an adorable Pug puppy who embodies the perfect blend of playful energy and affectionate calmness. Her days are a delightful mix of spirited zoomies around the fenced yard and cozy cuddle sessions in her plush dog bed alongside her foster brother. Barbie’s love for her humans is evident; she often seeks the comfort of sitting or lying on their feet, cherishing the closeness and warmth they provide.

While Barbie’s playful antics bring joy to any household, she does have a timid side that emerges in response to sudden movements or loud noises. This sensitivity adds to her charm, highlighting her need for a calm and reassuring environment where she can feel safe and secure. Recently, Barbie has begun to show interest in plush toys, engaging with them for short play sessions. However, her absolute favorite pastime remains a lively game of chase, especially when it involves her beloved humans.

Barbie’s social skills with other dogs are exceptional. She joyfully engages in chase games with canine companions of all sizes, yet remains generally indifferent to other animals. Her sweet disposition makes her a wonderful candidate for families with children, provided they understand her occasional timidity and approach her with gentleness and respect.

As with any young puppy, Barbie is in the process of learning proper dog manners and would benefit from basic training to help her understand household expectations. She thrives in environments where she can observe and emulate the behaviors of other well-mannered dogs, making her an excellent fit for multi-dog households. With her quick learning ability and adaptability, Barbie is sure to integrate seamlessly into her forever home. She is a very quick learner and picks up on routines with ease.  Slow introductions to other dogs and children in the household are a must and she should always be supervised to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Barbie is a lovable Pug puppy who balances her playful energy with affectionate cuddles. She seeks a patient and loving family that will provide her with the guidance and companionship she needs to flourish.

Barbie is fully potty trained!  She progressed quickly but will need a consistent schedule to keep her on the right track.  As with all of our dogs, any adopter must be patient and willing to continue working on her potty training success as she acclimates to her new home and surroundings. Barbie needs an outside routine, positive reinforcement, and a signal for potty in her adoptive home.  She is 100% crate-trained and does not have any accidents in her crate.  She sleeps quietly (after when her foster family happens to be away from the home and adorably will rest her little head on a comfy blanket.  Barbie does sleep in her crate in the evening but would much rather share a bed and offer snuggles to her new family!

Medically, Barbie is in great health!  She has been spayed, microchipped, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Barbie would do great in any type of home since she does well at going up and down small amounts of stairs; she has yet to attempt any large staircase but with a furry pal to help her along the way she will master them in no time!  A house with a completely closed fenced yard will be preferred for her (as opposed to a multiple floor apartment style dwelling) since she loves to explore the yard, likes to sun her Puggy buns, is not leash trained, and tends to run zoomies and play without limits. Leash training has not gone well and not for a lack of effort.  She will need some work in that department!   An apartment with a ground-level unit with a fenced yard would be okay for Barbie as that would provide easy and safe access to a yard without being leashed up.  She does need space to let her energy out!  Since Barbie is quite a people’s Pug, we think she would love to go to work with her new family if they wanted to take her with them to the office; she adores her people the most. If her people are not able to take her to work with them, no problem at all – she’s completely happy sleeping part-of-the day away as long as she has a warm soft blanket, a furry friend or two and her people can arrange for a mid-day potty break for her!  A part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member would be amazing for her!

Barbie is a little snuggle bug looking for a home that has a family to dote on her, a family that has a well-balanced resident pup, one that can offer her the stimulation and outdoor time she desires to help build her confidence, and has lots of love and attention to offer. As she has become more comfortable, her mischievous side is starting to show!  More and more of her personality shines daily and continues to learn a lot from her Pug foster brother.  Barbie is just the cutest little nugget!  She is such an overall sweetheart with a darling little personality that will offer a family so much laughter, joy, love, and happiness. Please be prepared for the ongoing care requirements that are needed to take care of a young dog.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
