Asscher’s Story
Asscher came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.
Asscher came to SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him placed in a loving home to live the rest of his life as a cherished pet.
Asscher is an outgoing, active, playful, energetic, easy-going, young Frenchie who enjoys playing with other dogs (big and small), playing and exploring outside, and entertaining himself with a ball or bone. After enough activity to wear him out, he is looking for a comfy place to rest and snuggle in. He’s the best of both worlds, he loves to play with furry friends, but also loves to cuddle when he’s done. You can often find him exploring every inch of his foster home, looking for the resident pups to engage in a game of chase (Asscher prefers the game of keep-away) or a fun (but gentle) wrestling session. If his furry friends are romping around the home showing off their playful nature, that is a cue for Asscher to join in! Asscher hasn’t met a human or furry friend that he hasn’t fallen head over paws for. He has been very well-socialized with humans and dogs. Asscher follows along with whatever his foster dog siblings do. He can test boundraries and is still learning his place in the pack. Asscher will try to see if he can be “pack leader” and will need proper correction if he asserts dominance. A firm leader and proper structure will allow Asscher to find his place in a pack and to be successful in his adoptive home. He is a young dog that needs guidance and consistent boundraries in place as he learns to “adult”. After a fun play session, Asscher will again snuggle up on the couch to recharge for the next play session. Asscher is very laid back and chill and has adapted to pet life so well. Snuggling is one of his most favorite things to do. He does have an inquisitive side. He wants to know where everything is in the home and where noises are coming from so he must be supervised when wandering indoors and outdoors, as he is still a young dog that doesn’t know danger. He ALWAYS wants to be with his people and other dogs! Asscher is a young dog and is experiencing a big transition and will need good leadership to help him learn proper dog behavior, learn proper dog manners, and know what is expected of him in his adoptive home. He is extremely smart and eager to please his humans so we know he will catch on very quickly! His foster family believes he would be best in a home with a playful furry friend (or two) and would do great with kids in the home, or just fine without kids as well. His foster home doesn’t have small children, but they feel he’d be great with them. As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs AND supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both he and they are kept safe.
Asscher is still working on potty training and occasionally has accidents when he is roaming the house but does signal he needs to go outside by waiting at the door. Again, he is a smart young dog and quickly picks up on things, mimics his foster sibling’s behavior, and adapts well to routines (and is treat-motivated). Asscher is still a young dog and as with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to continue working on potty training with him, offering him a consistent schedule and working with him on a signal for potty/going outside. He doesn’t care for his crate and does have some anxiety while left alone. He will go in with a treat and a toy but will occasionally have accidents if left too long. Asscher prefers to sleep alongside a human bed in his comfy bed as long as he’s right next to his foster parent’s bed. He MUST see them to sleep peacefully. He would also love to share a bed with his adoptive family once he’s able to master potty training! He is such a snuggle bug and he must be as close as possible to those he loves the most. For his safety, we recommend a similar crating/sleeping schedule be kept for him.
Medically, Asscher seems to be in great health. He has been neutered, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, heartworm tested, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian. Asscher has been on a diet, but he still has a few more pounds to lose. He must be kept on a strict and healthy diet for him to shed those additional pounds.
Asscher would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard due to his curious, explorative nature and because he is still potty-training (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard). He adores running about the backyard and the continued freedom to replay without worries is in his best interest! This boy loves to play in the snow! Asscher does great with a few steps in his foster home. Larger staircases can be daunting but with time we feel he can definitely conquer them. Asscher is perfecting his leash skills, he is working on it and making great strides! He is still a young dog who is still learning boundaries, so he must be supervised while romping around the yard and sunning his Frenchie buns. Asscher is looking for an active home that can offer him the stimulation needed. A part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member would be great for him! He also would be an office-friendly pup; he is so friendly and would insist on being on the office welcoming committee! Overall, Asscher is just the sweetest little love bug! He enjoys any and all attention, snuggle hour, wrestling sessions, playtime with his furry friends, and all people. Ultimately, he is looking for a home that has the time and patience to help guide him into a balanced adult dog, a home with another furry sibling or two, and one that isn’t gone long hours as he will need a potty break during the day. Be ready for the needs and care requirements of a young dog, Asscher will make it worth it!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
