Addie’s Story

Addie came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Addie is a ball of spunk and wild energy when around other dogs!  She fancies the outdoors and will run the Frenchie zoomies all around the yard.  Addie is extremely curious and takes to exploring the entire house and yard.  Addie, at first, has quite a shy side, especially around loud noises.  She gets a bit nervous around new people but once she has some time to warm up you wouldn’t know it and she acts like she has yet to meet a stranger and admires all humans she meets (especially if they are willing to offer her some affection).  She is 100% a Velcro Frenchie.  This little girl wants, well, really insists on being everywhere her beloved humans and furry friends are.  She follows them like it is her job; wherever they may meander.  Addie is in tow when her foster family heads for a snack in the kitchen when it is TV time on the couch and at bedtime. Nothing stops this girl from being close to her people especially when unlimited belly rubs are on the menu. There is nothing more in this world that she wants than to be with those she adores the most. She has taken a liking to toys and bones.  She will gravitate to anything fluffy and squeaks!  Addie found the game of chase around the yard to be fun!  When it is time to relax, she will pop up on the couch to snooze away.   If no one is available to share the couch with her she is VERY content claiming the comfy surface as her own and napping away!  When nap time is over you can find Addie searching for a bone to nibble on.  Addie will chew on almost anything and having a good bone available for her will keep her from chewing the tags off of any item that has one! As mentioned, she is curious about the outdoors and will explore every inch of the yard getting overly excited when her foster parents get home from work because that means plenty of outdoor time!  Addie’s happy place is outside and will even sun her cute little buns if allowed.  Addie, after she warms up,  is social with all people.  She adores other dogs and lights up with excitement when she can play all day with her furry foster sibling.  Addie is not intimidated by her loud bark or size and therefore we feel she would do great with other playful, well-balanced dogs in her adoptive home. Having another dog to pal around with, play with, and keep her company would be best for her overall success and happiness!  Addie has a kind and gentle temperament because of this, we feel she would do best in a home with children of any age. Slow introductions and supervision around children are a must to be sure they and she are kept safe.  Although she is laid back in general she still requires a family willing to provide her proper boundaries and provide the proper leadership she needs.

Addie’s foster family happily reports she is a work in progress.  She has come leaps and bounds since she arrived in rescue. She ONLY has accidents if her cues are missed.  A strict, regular, and consistent schedule will help with her continued potty training success in her new home.  She is 100% crate trained but doesn’t prefer her crate more than she has to be in it. Addie remains completely accident-free in her crate.  She is only crated when her family is away from the home.  Addie should never be crated while her family is home as it causes her great anxiety knowing her people are out and about and she is not with them.  For her safety, we recommend that she maintain a similar schedule when her adoptive family leaves the home.  Since Addie   Adores her humans so much, we know she would love to continue to share a human bed at night with her adoptive family.

Medically, Addie seems to be in great health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, nares widened, and heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian!

Addie would be happiest in a house with a fenced yard due to her adoration for the outdoors (as opposed to a multiple-floor apartment-style dwelling with no yard).  She is overly curious and still learning boundaries. Stairs are still a work in progress; she conquered going up the stairs but going down is still a work in progress so a home with little stairs would be best for her.   An apartment-style home with a ground-level unit with an adjacent fenced-in yard would be okay for her.  She is still learning to walk properly on a leash (she is proving to be a quick study) so easy access to a safe space would help Addie potty train a little quicker!  Addie would be a good dog to take to the office if she is able. She is such a quiet pup and would gladly cuddle up in a soft bed and snooze the day away with an occasional nibble on her bone.  She also would be completely happy sleeping part of the day away in her crate as long as her people can arrange a mid-day potty break for her!  Addie would thrive in a home where she had lots of love, attention, belly rubs, outdoor time, and a furry playmate.  She would do great with or without kids and would LOVE to have a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member if possible, but not required at all.  Again, she has such a sweet, loving, and gentle temperament when she is surrounded by those she loves.  Addie is a really fun, playful ball of energy with a pawfectly chill side as well!  She is such an adorable dog that wants to be around her people and her furry friends as much as she can and be included in most family adventures!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
