Abiline’s Story

Abby came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Abiline “Abby”: The Gentle Soul with a Playful Heart and a Love for Naps!

Abiline — affectionately known as Abby — is the perfect mix of soft, sweet, and just a little bit silly. This lovely French Bulldog girl is the definition of “laid back living.” She enjoys a good play session with her toys or a canine buddy, followed by a well-deserved nap in her favorite cozy spot. Abby is happiest when life moves at her easy pace — she’s not in a rush to do anything except soak up love, comfort, and the quiet joy of being near her people.

Abby’s personality is blossoming more every day as her confidence grows. She’s naturally a bit timid and can be startled by sudden movements, unfamiliar objects, or unexpected noises — but she’s getting braver all the time. Her curious little heart keeps her close to her humans, and she’ll often follow you from room to room just to keep tabs on what you’re up to. She doesn’t want to miss a thing — after all, what if something exciting (or snack-worthy!) happens?

When it comes to other dogs, Abby is in her element. She absolutely loves being around pups her size and would thrive in a home with a gentle, friendly dog to play and snuggle with. While she’s still getting used to her big foster brother, she’s shown that she enjoys canine company and has no hesitation meeting new dogs at events. Abby’s playstyle is sweet and social — she loves chasing her ball, playing with stuffed toys, and occasionally “borrowing” her foster brother’s favorites.

Abby also does beautifully with children. She’s met kids of all ages and greets them with her trademark gentle, easygoing charm. Her calm and patient nature makes her a wonderful match for a family looking for a kind, loving companion. She’s also a great fit for first-time French Bulldog owners — she’s not demanding, doesn’t have any complicated care needs, and is wonderfully adaptable as long as she’s given time and understanding while she settles into her new home.

Patience will be key for her forever family. Abby may take a few months to truly feel at home, but once she does, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most affectionate, loyal companions imaginable. She’ll be your little shadow, your quiet comfort, and your constant reminder to slow down and enjoy life’s cozy moments.

If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow Frenchie who loves playtime just as much as naptime — and who will adore you with her whole heart — Abby is ready to snuggle her way into your life and make every day softer, sweeter, and filled with love.

Abby’s Potty and Crate Training: The Little Lady Who Loves Routine (and Treats!)

Abby has made wonderful progress in her potty training and is well on her way to being a fully housebroken girl! She’s learned that going potty outside means extra praise and a yummy reward — and she’s very proud of herself each time she gets it right. While she’s mostly reliable, occasional accidents can still happen, especially as she adjusts to new surroundings or routines. Her forever family can help her succeed by taking her out regularly, offering gentle encouragement, and keeping up her consistent schedule. Abby is a smart little lady who thrives on routine and positive reinforcement — and a treat or two never hurts!

Every now and then, Abby prefers to use the concrete patio instead of the grass (a true Frenchie quirk!), but she’s improving steadily with patience and guidance. With time, she’ll continue to learn that the grass is indeed greener for potty breaks.

When it comes to crate training, Abby is an absolute star. She’s fully crate trained, sleeps through the night without needing a potty break, and has never had an accident in her kennel. Her crate is her cozy, clean, and comfortable safe space — a spot she’s come to associate with rest and security. During the workday, Abby can be crated for four to five hours without any trouble, and she’ll even trot right in on her own when there’s a treat waiting for her.

In the evenings, Abby enjoys being part of family time and doesn’t need to be crated during dinner — she’s content to relax nearby or snooze after a day of playing and exploring.

With her gentle spirit and easygoing personality, Abby’s doing a wonderful job mastering her house manners. A patient family who can keep up her steady rhythm and offer lots of love (and treats!) will find that this sweet girl continues to shine and settle beautifully into home life.

Medically, Abiline seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, had a dental with extractions,  is up to date on all vaccinations and dewormings, tested negative for heartworm, and is microchipped. She does have those pesky Frenchie allergies that caused some ear issues in her past.

Abiline does have some ongoing seasonal allergies that will require a little routine maintenance to keep her comfortable. Her foster family manages this easily with over-the-counter allergy medication and occasional medicated baths when her skin starts to feel itchy. A cytopoint injection is beneficial during those high allergy months! These pesky allergies did cause some ear issues in her past; she would benefit from weekly ear cleanings to avoid any future issues.

Abby is a gentle, easygoing little Frenchie who’s blossoming more and more each day. She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t need much — just love, patience, and a cozy place to nap (preferably near her people). While she can be timid at first, especially with new sounds, quick movements, or unfamiliar objects, her confidence is growing daily — and it’s been such a joy to watch her personality unfold. Once she trusts you, she’s the most endearing, affectionate little shadow who just wants to be close and see what you’re up to.

Abby would do well in almost any home environment. Whether it’s an apartment, townhome, or single-family house, she’ll adapt beautifully as long as her family keeps a consistent potty routine and spends plenty of time with her. If she joins an apartment household, her humans will just need to make sure she gets regular outdoor potty breaks since she’s still fine-tuning her routine. A fenced yard isn’t required — in fact, Abby doesn’t spend much time outside on her own and prefers to stay close to her person. She’s content to hang out in the yard only if her human is nearby, keeping her company.

Because of her short little legs, Abby would be happiest in a home with very few stairs. She can manage two or three steps on her own, but more than that would be difficult for her, especially going down. If her new family wants her to join them on the couch, she’d appreciate a small set of dog stairs or a ramp to help her safely climb up and down.

Abby would absolutely love to have another dog in the home — especially one close to her size — to help her feel confident and give her a playful companion. She adores other dogs and does beautifully with calm, respectful pups. She’s also met children and done well with them, though her new family should make sure kids understand that Abby doesn’t like to be picked up or chased. She does best with gentle, slow interactions and will reward patience with trust and love.

This little lady hasn’t quite mastered leash walking yet, so walks aren’t really her thing right now. But as she continues to feel more comfortable in her surroundings, she may begin to enjoy short, easy strolls with her family. In the meantime, she’s happiest in her safe spaces — her bed, her crate, or right beside you. She’s especially adorable when mealtime rolls around — she gets so excited that she does a happy little bunny-hop dance that will melt your heart every single time!

Abby would also make a wonderful office companion or work-from-home sidekick. She’s quiet, calm, and content to nap nearby while you work. A busy environment might be overwhelming at first, but with time and a slow introduction, she’ll find her rhythm and settle right in.

More than anything, Abby needs a family that will give her the time and space to truly come out of her shell. She’s already shown that beneath her shy exterior is a loving, loyal, and happy little spirit just waiting to shine. With kindness, consistency, and a soft place to land, Abby will reward her forever family with endless affection, quiet companionship, and the kind of gentle love that only a special dog like her can give.

If you’re ready to open your heart to a tender, trusting soul who’s still learning how wonderful the world can be, Abby is waiting — wiggly hops, soft snores, and all.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Abiline, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
