Padme’s Story
Padme came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.
Meet Padme—a happy-go-lucky little Frenchie with a heart full of love, a playful spirit, and just the right amount of sass!
She is the perfect blend of active and laid-back, making her an easy companion whether your day calls for adventure or relaxation. One minute she’s zooming through the house at full speed, launching herself onto the couch, hopping from chair to chair, and showing off her silly Frenchie antics, and the next she’s happily stretched out in a cozy dog bed or sprawled across the cool kitchen floor after finding the perfect sunny spot to warm her belly. She truly knows how to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Padme wakes up each day excited to see what fun is in store. She loves going for walks, exploring every scent along the way, and greeting everyone she meets with her signature happy-go-lucky attitude. People are, without question, her favorite. She has never met a stranger and believes every person she encounters is simply a friend she hasn’t officially introduced herself to yet. During a recent walk she met several children and was so enchanted by them that her foster mom laughed and said Padme probably would have happily followed them home if given the chance! She absolutely soaks up attention and never turns down belly rubs, head scratchies, kind words, or a little extra love.
When she’s not out making new friends, you’ll usually find Padme proudly carrying around one of her favorite treasures. Chew bones are at the top of her list, but squeaky toys and crinkly toys are close behind. She’s still learning that sharing can be fun and occasionally thinks her favorite toy should remain exclusively hers. Likewise, she’s a little protective of the people she loves and can initially resource guard her humans when meeting new dogs. The good news is that Padme responds beautifully to calm leadership, gentle redirection, and consistency. She’s incredibly adaptable, eager to please, and catches on quickly when shown what is expected. She’s simply a young girl learning that she doesn’t have to keep all the good things to herself.
Padme currently lives very happily with her Boston Terrier foster brother and truly enjoys having another playful canine companion. She’s always excited to meet new dogs, although bigger dogs can make her feel unsure at first. Slow, thoughtful introductions allow her confidence to blossom, and once she realizes everyone is safe, she settles in beautifully. Because of this, she’d do best with respectful dogs and a family willing to let relationships develop at her pace. With patience and guidance, Padme continues to show just how adaptable and social she can be.
This sweet girl absolutely adores children and lights up the second she sees them. She would happily spend all day collecting pets and attention from her tiny admirers. Like many playful young Frenchies, her excitement sometimes results in enthusiastic jumps and the occasional playful finger nibble as she’s still figuring out appropriate play manners. It’s never mean-spirited—she’s simply learning how to express her excitement. Older, dog-savvy children who understand her playful nature would be wonderful companions for her.
One thing Padme will never pretend to ignore is something that runs! Rabbits, birds, squirrels, and especially neighborhood cats instantly capture her attention. She has a healthy prey drive and would love nothing more than to give chase, so a home without cats or other small animals will be the safest and happiest fit for everyone.
Padme would thrive with a family that enjoys making their dog part of everyday life. Whether she’s joining you for neighborhood walks, supervising yard work from a sunny patch of grass, following you from room to room to see what you’re doing, entertaining everyone with her goofy zoomies, or curling up beside you after a busy day, she’s simply happiest being included. She enjoys affection but also has an independent streak that makes her classic Frenchie—she’ll happily seek out cuddles when she’s ready, making those quiet moments together feel all the more special.
Her ideal family doesn’t necessarily need prior French Bulldog experience, but they should be willing to learn about the unique needs of this wonderful breed and continue providing the consistency and guidance that have helped Padme flourish in foster care.
Life with Padme promises laughter, companionship, sunshine-filled afternoons, squeaky toys scattered across the living room, and countless moments that will make you smile. She’s the kind of dog who has a way of making an ordinary Tuesday feel a little brighter simply because she’s there. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a playful spirit, endless affection, and just enough Frenchie sass to keep life entertaining, Padme is ready to fill your home—and your heart—with love.
Padme has done an amazing job with her potty training and has quickly settled into a successful routine! She is considered housebroken in her foster home and has had only a few accidents, which were mostly during the adjustment period while everyone was learning her schedule and cues. Once she understood the routine, she caught on beautifully. Padme will happily go potty outside when taken, and she has even learned to let her foster family know when she needs to go by offering a bark as her “excuse me, I need out!” announcement. Like most dogs, continued consistency and maintaining her established routine will help her be successful in her forever home.
Crate training? Padme is basically a little crate-training rockstar! She is one of those rare Frenchies who walks right into her crate without a fuss and settles in like it’s her own cozy little bedroom. Whether it’s time for a nap, a quiet break, or when her foster family needs to run errands, Padme happily relaxes in her crate. She sleeps well overnight, has had no accidents in her crate, and truly seems to appreciate having her own safe space. Her foster family makes sure she gets plenty of opportunities to burn off energy before bedtime with a walk (weather permitting) or some outdoor playtime, helping her settle in for a restful night. Padme’s ability to adapt to a routine and her easygoing attitude toward crating make her a wonderful companion for a family looking for a well-adjusted Frenchie who already has some great manners in place.
Medically, Padme seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! She does suffer from those pesky seasonal allergies and they can be maintained by a daily OTC allergy med in addition to a cytopoint injection during high allergy months.
As a fluffy Frenchie, Padme also requires a little extra grooming to stay comfortable and clean. Her longer coat can collect debris and become soiled around her sanitary areas, so routine brushing, regular baths as needed, and sanitary trims around her belly and rear are strongly recommended. Wiping her bottom after bowel movements will help keep her clean and prevent irritation or matting. Staying on top of her grooming needs will help keep her coat healthy and make life more comfortable for this beautiful little girl.
Padme is the kind of girl who doesn’t need a mansion, a huge yard, or a house full of people to be happy—she simply needs her people. Whether she’s living in an apartment, a townhouse, or a home with a big backyard, Padme’s biggest wish is to be loved, included, and part of everyday life. She is a true companion dog who thrives when she can be near her humans, soaking up affection, following along with the daily routine, and reminding everyone that life is always better with a Frenchie by your side.
A fenced yard would be wonderful for Padme’s safety (actually required), especially because she has a strong prey drive and cannot resist the temptation to chase neighborhood cats, rabbits, or anything else that catches her attention. Padme loves exploring, going for walks, and taking in all the smells of the world around her, but her safety will always come first because her little legs and big curiosity can sometimes get ahead of her!
Padme would thrive with just about any type of family—from a single person looking for a devoted sidekick to a busy household that wants a sweet, affectionate Frenchie to complete the family. Her ideal home is one where she receives the love and attention she has so much of to give. She is incredibly affectionate, loves belly rubs and head scratches, and genuinely wants to be close to her people. She has so much love in her heart and deserves a family who will happily return that love tenfold.
While Padme loves being around her humans, she also has a wonderful independent side. She isn’t a dog who needs constant entertainment—she’s perfectly content to grab a toy, settle into a cozy dog bed, or lounge nearby while her people do their own thing. She has a great balance of playful energy and the ability to relax, making her an easy fit for many different lifestyles.
When it comes to stairs, Padme handles them like a champ! She currently lives in a split-level home and confidently navigates the stairs throughout the day. Of course, with her adorable little Frenchie legs, moderation is always best. A few stairs are no problem, but families should keep an eye on her with excessive climbing to ensure she doesn’t overdo it or become fatigued.
Padme would make an absolutely fantastic office companion! She loves meeting people, enjoys attention, and is happiest when she can be included in her human’s day. She would happily curl up in a dog bed near your desk, supervise your work, and take occasional breaks for pets and compliments from coworkers. If she can’t tag along everywhere, that’s okay too—Padme is crate trained, comfortable relaxing on her own, and would do well with a family who can provide a midday potty break if she is home alone for a full workday.
Like all French Bulldogs, Padme’s outdoor adventures need to be balanced with her health and comfort. She enjoys walks and outside time, but she cannot tolerate heat well, so her activity is best enjoyed during cooler parts of the day, such as early mornings and evenings during the warmer months.
Padme truly is a special little girl, and her foster family believes her future family is going to hit the jackpot. She is potty trained, crate trained, healthy, adaptable, and overflowing with love. She’s playful without being overwhelming, affectionate without being needy, and independent without ever making you feel alone. She’s the kind of dog who will happily join you for adventures, relax beside you after a long day, and remind you every single day just how wonderful life with a Frenchie can be. Padme is ready to give her whole heart to the lucky family who gives her the forever home she deserves.
If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Padme, please submit an adoption application for her today!!
disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
