Nina Mari’s Story

Nina Mari came into the SNAFU Rescue via a private party surrender. Her prior owners wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Nina Mari — a charming, affectionate Frenchie with a beautiful balance of snuggly sweetness and curious, go-anywhere spirit. Nina is the kind of girl who fits seamlessly into your rhythm: if you’re lounging, she’s curled up close; if you’re up and moving, she’s happily trotting along right by your side.

Nina is mostly laid back, but don’t mistake that for lazy. She loves to get out of the house, explore her surroundings, and take in the world around her. Walks and outdoor adventures light her up just as much as cozy couch time. She’s wonderfully intuitive and can “read the room” with ease — a true companion dog who just wants to be wherever her people are.

One of Nina’s most endearing qualities is how deeply she bonds with her humans. If she hasn’t seen you in a while, expect an explosion of joy — full-body wiggles, happy excitement, and pure devotion. She’s a world-class snuggler who loves to be on her person (or as close as physically possible). When she’s not soaking up affection, you’ll find her gazing out the window watching squirrels or enjoying a stroll with her nose to the ground.

Nina is social and friendly, though she can occasionally get a little nervous if she thinks she’s in trouble — a gentle reminder that she thrives best with reassurance and kindness. Overall, she’s a confident, loving girl who enjoys the company of others. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and genders and has shown excellent manners around senior dogs. She enjoys playtime but isn’t pushy, making her a great match for many canine personalities. She would do well with another dog or would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only.

Nina is generally easygoing with her belongings, but she can be a little protective of her space. When she’s in her kennel or eating, she may give a clear vocal reminder to other dogs if they get too close — simply her way of asking for boundaries. This has never been directed toward people, only other dogs. She has done well overall with sharing items like bones, with only occasional “talking” if she has one in her kennel. With respectful canine companions, supervision around food and high-value items, and continued structure, this has been very manageable.

While Nina adores dogs and people, she does have a strong prey drive and finds cats very exciting — a little too exciting. Because she tends to fixate and stalk, a cat-free home would be the best and safest fit for her.  Slow, thoughtful introductions to both children and other dogs are essential to help everyone feel safe, comfortable, and set up for success from the very start. 💛

Nina is exceptional with children of all ages. She’s been around loud, energetic toddlers and older kids alike and handles it all with patience and grace. She’s gentle, tolerant, and affectionate without being overwhelming — the kind of dog who enjoys being nearby and part of the action without demanding constant attention.

When it comes to toys, Nina isn’t much of a stuffy fan, but she has discovered a true love: her Benebone (especially the Wishbone!). Chewing is one of her favorite ways to relax, and she takes great pride in her favorite treasures.

At her core, Nina Mari is a devoted, loving, well-rounded Frenchie with a heart full of affection and a spirit that’s equal parts cozy and adventurous. She’s gentle, social, loyal, and endlessly endearing — the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room, steal your heart quietly, and become your shadow before you even realize it.

If you’re looking for a sweet, intuitive companion who will snuggle hard, explore happily, and love deeply — Nina Mari may be your perfect match. 💕

Nina is doing very well with her potty training and continues to make steady, positive progress as she settles into a consistent routine. She came to her foster home already potty trained and leash trained, with a great foundation of basic manners — she knows sit, shake, and “no,” and she’s a quick learner who picks up new words easily. Everyday phrases like potty time, hungry, and treat already spark recognition, and she continues to grow more confident with gentle guidance.

One important thing to note is that Nina doesn’t always alert when she needs to go outside. Instead, she tends to hold her potty and does best when given frequent, proactive potty breaks. Since establishing a routine, she’s been doing great and typically potties each time she’s let out. She can get a bit distracted outdoors (there are so many things to see!), so a patient adopter who allows her time to focus will help set her up for continued success. She had a few indoor poop accidents early on while adjusting, but those have resolved nicely as her routine became consistent.

Nina is now comfortably crate trained and has truly embraced her kennel as a safe, secure space. While she was unsure of it at first, she has settled in beautifully and now does very well being crated when her humans leave — which is important for her safety, as she experiences some separation anxiety. She is also crated overnight and sleeps through the night without issue (though she certainly enjoys the occasional snuggle exception!). She’s learning to walk into her crate on her own and continues to improve every day.

With her solid foundation, eagerness to learn, and positive response to structure and reassurance, Nina will thrive in a home that maintains her routine and continues her training with patience and consistency. She’s a bright, capable girl who wants to do the right thing — and with the right support, she’ll continue to shine.

Medically, Nina seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, had a dental, is up to date on all vaccinations and dewormings, tested negative for heartworm, and is microchipped. She does suffer from those pesky Frenchie allergies,  Nina will do best with a simple, manageable skin-care routine that includes a daily over-the-counter allergy medication, Cytopoint injections during peak allergy seasons, and regular skin maintenance such as weekly baths and medicated wipes to keep her comfortable and feeling her best.

Nina Mari is a wonderfully adaptable, affectionate Frenchie who brings together the best of both worlds — cozy snuggler and curious explorer. She’s happiest when she’s included in everyday life, whether that means relaxing at home beside her people or heading out to see what the world has to offer. Nina doesn’t demand constant activity, but she truly shines in a home where she can be part of the action and feel deeply connected to her humans.

Nina is confident and social, with a gentle, intuitive nature. She forms strong bonds and loves being close — on the couch, at your feet, or pressed right up against you. While she may get a little vocal when kenneled during the day as her people leave, she settles in and does well with structure. Because of this, a single-family home is ideal for her comfort, though she is adaptable with the right setup and routine.

A securely fenced yard is strongly recommended for Nina. She absolutely loves being outside, exploring, sniffing, and soaking in her surroundings, and her high prey drive means she will enthusiastically chase critters when the opportunity arises. When she’s locked in on something, her “listening ears” take a brief vacation — so a fence allows her the freedom she craves while keeping her safe. That said, Nina could adjust to a very dog-friendly apartment lifestyle with an active adopter who provides frequent outings, enrichment, and structured exercise.

Nina would thrive with an active individual, couple, or family who includes her in their day-to-day life. She does especially well with someone who can be with her most of the day — she would make an excellent office dog and would love greeting coworkers before happily settling in. She navigates stairs with ease, making a multi-level home perfectly fine.

She enjoys the company of other dogs and could do well with a canine sibling, but she would also be perfectly content as the center of attention — and truthfully, that’s where she deserves to be. Nina is healthy, athletic, incredibly friendly, and overflowing with love. She adores snuggling, thrives on affection, and is ready to be cherished.

Nina Mari is the kind of Frenchie who makes you stop and think, “Am I really going to let her go?” She has so much love to give and is ready for a forever home where she can finally be someone’s whole world — put on a pedestal, spoiled just a little, and loved as deeply as she loves in return. 💛

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Nina Mari, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
