Mini’s Story

Mini came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Mini — a laid-back, lovable little French Bulldog with a sweet personality, a playful side, and a serious appreciation for the finer things in life… like a cozy bed, a good Benebone, and being right beside her people.

For a one-year-old Frenchie, Mini is surprisingly relaxed. She certainly has moments of playfulness and will occasionally chase a ball, but she isn’t the type of girl who needs to be entertained all day long. More often than not, you’ll find her happily settled in her bed with her favorite Benebone, content to chew away while keeping an eye on whatever her people are doing. And speaking of her people — Mini absolutely loves being close. Whether she’s curled up at your feet or relaxing right beside you with her Benebone, she’s happiest when she can simply be part of the family.

Mini gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine company, but she does have one behavior her future family will need to continue working on. When another dog approaches while Mini is lying beside her person, she can become a little territorial about her spot and may growl as if to say, “Excuse me, I was here first!” This is not food or toy guarding — Mini does not resource guard her meals, treats, or belongings. Her possessive behavior is specifically centered around her person and her desire to maintain her place beside them.

Because of this, Mini needs an adopter who is comfortable providing calm, consistent leadership and correcting this behavior when it occurs. She is a young dog who is still learning what is expected of her, and she will thrive with someone who is willing to set clear boundaries, provide guidance, and help her understand that she doesn’t need to protect her place with her person. With consistency and reinforcement of the right behavior, Mini can continue learning to share her people appropriately.

Mini is wonderful with children and would love a family that includes her in everyday life. She doesn’t need a nonstop schedule of activities or a home filled with constant excitement. She’s perfectly happy being your little shadow, enjoying some playtime when the mood strikes, then settling in for a serious Benebone session afterward.

At her core, Mini is a sweet, easygoing young Frenchie who wants what most Frenchies want — to be loved, included, and close to her people. She has a wonderfully relaxed personality for her age, a charming independent streak, and just enough sass to keep life interesting. She’s looking for a family who will love her cuddly nature, appreciate her laid-back personality, and give her the structure and leadership she needs to continue becoming the very best version of herself.

If you’re looking for a young Frenchie who would rather hang out beside you with a Benebone than be the center of attention every minute of the day, Mini may be your girl. She’s sweet, affectionate, playful in her own way, and ready to find the people she can spend the rest of her life happily beside.

Mini is making great progress with her potty training and is learning to communicate when she needs to go outside. She has started going to the door and standing there when she needs a potty break, which is a wonderful step forward. She can still have an occasional accident in the house, particularly when her humans aren’t paying close attention to her signals, so a consistent schedule, predictable routine, and close supervision will be important as she continues to learn. With continued consistency and a clear potty signal, Mini should continue making steady progress.

Mini does well in her crate and is currently comfortable being crated for about 3–4 hours during the day when her foster family is away. She also sleeps in her crate at night, although she is happy to join her people in bed when invited. She has had an occasional accident in her crate, but this is not a daily occurrence and has been improving as her potty training progresses.

Mini will thrive in a home that keeps her routine consistent and pays attention to her cues. She’s a smart young girl who is learning what is expected of her, and with patience, structure, and regular potty breaks, she is well on her way to becoming a reliably house-trained companion.

Medically, Mini seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, heartworm tested, microchipped, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian.

Mini is a wonderfully adaptable young Frenchie who could fit beautifully into many different types of homes and family situations. At just one year old, she still has plenty to learn about the world, so she’ll need a family willing to provide continued guidance, patience, and consistency as she gains confidence and learns what’s expected of her. She does well with a few stairs, but larger staircases can make her nervous, and she has shown some hesitation with deck stairs. With patient encouragement and continued practice, she should become more comfortable tackling new challenges.

Mini does well on a leash, but she is a young girl who doesn’t always understand danger and could potentially dart away if given the opportunity. For that reason, a securely fenced yard would be a huge plus, providing her with a safe place to enjoy some outdoor time without the risks that come with being off leash. Like ALL dogs, he should always be kept safely serviced with a harness and leash when not in a fully secured fenced-in area.

More than anything, Mini wants to be with her people. She would adapt well to a variety of family and home environments, but she should not be expected to spend long stretches alone. At only one year old, we feel she would do best with someone who is home much of the day or a family where she would be left alone for no more than about four hours at a time. A stay-at-home or part-time work-from-home family would be an especially wonderful fit for her.

Mini would also make an excellent office companion. She loves being near her people and would happily spend the day at your feet, chewing on her favorite Benebone and napping while you work. She doesn’t need constant entertainment — she simply wants to be included and close to the people she loves.

Mini is the kind of girl who will flourish with a family that is willing to teach her, encourage her, and give her time to figure things out. New experiences may require a little patience, but with calm guidance and positive reinforcement, she is eager to learn. Give Mini a safe environment, loving leadership, and plenty of companionship, and she will happily settle in beside you and become a wonderful little sidekick for whatever life brings.

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
