Mercedes’s Story
Mercedes came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.
Mercedes isn’t just a name—it’s a burst of sunshine wrapped up in a compact, wiggly French Bulldog body! This little lady is pure joy on four paws, blending playful energy with the sweetest cuddles you can imagine. Whether she’s chasing squirrels in the backyard, zooming alongside her foster siblings, or curling up in your lap for a well-earned snooze, Mercedes is guaranteed to fill your days with laughter, love, and just the right amount of mischief.
Mercedes is an adventurer at heart! She loves to follow her humans everywhere, making sure she’s part of every moment. Car rides? She’s the first one in the passenger seat. Backyard playtime? She’ll be the one zipping after squirrels with glee. Sunbathing? Oh yes—this girl knows how to soak up those rays like a pro. And when playtime is over, get ready for the ultimate snuggle session—Mercedes adores napping on her favorite person’s lap, surrounded by squeaky toys and Benebones.
Other pets? Mercedes is a social butterfly! She lives with two male dogs and two cats in her foster home and gets along beautifully with everyone. She’s respectful of the cats (no chasing here!) and plays wonderfully with her doggy pals, but she’d be just as content soaking up one-on-one attention from her humans. Male or female, big or small—Mercedes loves them all!
When it comes to people, Mercedes hasn’t met a stranger. She’s all tail wags and eager wiggles when meeting new friends, and while she hasn’t been around kids yet, her gentle, easygoing personality suggests she’d do great with dog-savvy children!
Mercedes’s perfect home is one where she can be part of the action—whether that’s with a playful pack of dogs or as the center of attention in a loving home. She thrives when she can be near her people, so a family that enjoys both outdoor adventures and indoor snuggles would be a dream come true.
If you’re searching for a playful, affectionate, go-anywhere, do-anything companion who will light up your life and steal your heart, look no further—Mercedes is ready to ride shotgun straight into your home and your heart!
Mercedes’s foster family is thrilled to report that she’s making wonderful progress every day, and her potty training is coming along beautifully—she’s about 75% there! She does best on a regular, consistent schedule and hasn’t had any accidents overnight, though she’ll need to go out first thing in the morning. Stormy weather and rain can make potty time a little tricky, as Mercedes isn’t a fan of wet paws, but with patience and plenty of positive reinforcement (and, of course, treats!), she’s eager to please and keeps improving. Mercedes does suffer from those pesky seasonal allergies! She will benefit from a daily OTC allergy pill, foot wipes and a cytopoint injection during those high allergy months.
Mercedes isn’t a fan of the crate—in fact, she finds it quite stressful and has shown signs of anxiety, even to the point of trying to escape. Her foster family has found that she does much better when secured in a small, dog-safe space when they’re away from home, where she’ll peacefully nap in her bed. At night, Mercedes loves nothing more than curling up in bed with her humans, where she sleeps soundly without any accidents. For her safety and comfort, a similar setup is recommended in her adoptive home, as she’s still learning what’s expected of her inside the house and doesn’t yet understand the dangers around her.
Mercedes would be over the moon to share a bed with her forever family—she’s a world-class cuddler who finds comfort and security in snuggling up close. With a little patience, a solid routine, and lots of love, Mercedes will continue to blossom into the perfect, well-mannered companion!
Medically, Mercedes seems to be in great health! She has been spayed, had a dental with extractions, nares widened, palate shortened, saccules removed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, heartworm tested and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Mercedes had a cyst removed on the back of her neck caused by an infected microchip. She is healing perfectly!
Mercedes would thrive in just about any home—as long as she has a loving human to treat her like the queen she truly is! Whether it’s a cozy apartment, a townhome with stairs, or a spacious ranch with room to roam, Mercedes is happy wherever her people are. While she does beautifully on a leash, she absolutely lives for her squirrel-chasing adventures, so a fenced yard would be a dream come true for this little explorer. It’s not required, but it’s definitely preferred for her safety, as Mercedes doesn’t quite understand boundaries and isn’t one to hesitate when adventure calls!
Mercedes would do great with singles, couples, or families—just be mindful if there are little ones who might leave doors open, because she’s quick and fearless when curiosity strikes! She’s a devoted companion who wants to be part of everything you do. Cooking dinner? She’s your sous-chef. Movie night? She’s got her spot claimed on your lap. Even shower time? She’s waiting loyally just outside the door. She is truly your shadow and happiest when she’s near.
She does well being left in her dog-safe space for a few hours, but her heart is most full when she’s out and about with her people. Mercedes would make an incredible office buddy—she’s quiet, mellow, and loves a cozy bed to nap in between meetings. She handles stairs with ease (as long as they’re not too steep) and has no trouble hopping onto the couch for a cuddle.
Mercedes is simply magical. With her soulful eyes and sweet nature, she will melt your heart in seconds. She’s playful, cuddly, and full of charm—ready to make someone’s world so much brighter. All she needs is love, companionship, and someone who will adore her as much as she adores them!

disclaimer
Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.
We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.
We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.
IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.
ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.
If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.

SNAFU Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes all short-nosed breeds in need.
