Kennedy’s Story

Kennedy came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Kennedy: A Gentle Heart, a Quiet Soul, and a Serious Love for Benebones

Kennedy is the kind of girl who brings a sense of calm wherever she goes. This sweet French Bulldog has a laid-back, thoughtful nature and prefers a peaceful pace of life where she can observe, decompress, and enjoy the simple comforts that make her feel safe. She’s not one to rush into the spotlight — Kennedy takes her time warming up — but once she feels comfortable, she’ll softly ask for affection in the most endearing way, reminding you just how special her trust truly is.

Kennedy values her personal space and is perfectly content choosing her own cozy spots. You’ll often find her relaxing in her crate with the door wide open or stretched out on a nearby dog bed, happily chewing on her absolute favorite thing in the world: her Benebone. She has them strategically placed throughout the house, and no matter where she is, one is never far away. While she does enjoy crinkly plush toys and loves a good shake session now and then, nothing compares to her devotion to those Benebones — they are her happy place.

When it comes to other dogs, Kennedy truly shines. She warms up to dogs faster than people and does beautifully with respectful canine companions. She’s lived peacefully with resident Frenchies and even a much larger dog, showing that she’s polite, tolerant, and easygoing as long as her space is honored. Once comfortable, Kennedy loves to wrestle and play with similarly sized dogs and would absolutely thrive with a gentle playmate who matches her size and energy. She does not resource guard food, toys, or people and has shown herself to be wonderfully non-confrontational.

Kennedy has been around children — including a 13-year-old — and has shown no concerning behaviors. She doesn’t jump (though she is an adorable little spinner when excited!), making her a safe companion for dog-savvy kids of most ages. Cats may also be a possibility with proper introductions.

Her journey to this point hasn’t been easy. Kennedy came into rescue seven months ago after a long, challenging road, arriving with severe knee issues that required major surgeries and a dedicated recovery period. Through it all, she has shown incredible resilience and quiet strength. Now on the other side of that journey, she’s ready for a forever home where she can continue to heal — not just physically, but emotionally — surrounded by patience, love, and understanding.

Kennedy would do best in a home that respects her gentle boundaries, allows her to move at her own pace, and ideally includes another friendly, similarly sized dog to play and lounge with. In return, she’ll offer unwavering loyalty, soft companionship, and a calming presence that makes a house feel like home.

If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key Frenchie with a tender heart, a playful side that blooms with trust, and an unmatched love for chew toys, Kennedy may just be the quiet little soulmate you’ve been waiting for. 💛

Kennedy’s potty training is very much a work in progress, and she does best when she’s kept on a consistent, predictable schedule. Routine is her biggest key to success. She doesn’t yet have a clear signal to let her people know she needs to go outside, so her humans help her by anticipating her needs. One reliable cue? When Kennedy wakes up from a nap and heads for a big drink of water, it’s time for an immediate potty break. With that kind of mindful guidance, she does quite well.

As with many dogs adjusting to new environments and routines, occasional accidents can happen, and Kennedy will need a patient, understanding family who’s willing to continue reinforcing her schedule with gentle consistency. She responds best to calm encouragement and positive reinforcement and will continue to improve as she settles into her forever home.

When it comes to crate training, Kennedy truly shines. Her crate is one of her favorite places to be — a safe, cozy retreat where she can relax and feel secure. If the door is left open in the evening, she’ll often choose to curl up in her crate for a nap all on her own. While she does need a little help being placed into the crate at times, she settles immediately once inside, happily chewing on a bone or drifting right off to sleep.

Kennedy is crated whenever her people are away from the house and sleeps in her crate through the night. She does wonderfully with this routine, which helps keep her safe and prevents overnight accidents. Though she would happily snuggle up in bed with her humans someday, her crate has been an important and positive part of her structure and success.

With time, patience, and a family willing to maintain her steady rhythm, Kennedy will continue to build confidence in her house manners. She’s a sweet, gentle girl who thrives on routine, security, and understanding — and in the right home, she’ll keep making progress at her own thoughtful, steady pace.

Medically, Kennedy seems to be in great health. She has been spayed, had a dental with extractions, nares widened is up to date on all vaccinations and dewormings, tested negative for heartworm, and is microchipped. Like many Frenchies, she has some vertebral  malformations… she should be allowed to live like a normal dog but not allow her to jump on/off things.  Kennedy had bi-lateral medial patellar luxation and TPLO repair on both her right and left legs.  She has been fully cleared by her orthopedic surgeon and has resumed normal activity with ease.  Kennedy is to remain on a high-quality joint supplement in perpetuity.

Kennedy is a gentle, easygoing Frenchie with the softest soul and a quiet, steady presence. She doesn’t ask for much — just patience, understanding, and a comfortable place to relax near the people she loves. Kennedy is naturally a little reserved at first, especially in new situations, but once she feels safe, her sweetness shines through in subtle, meaningful ways. She’s not pushy for attention; instead, she’ll calmly invite affection and soak it in, reminding you just how special her trust truly is.

Kennedy would do well in almost any home environment. She’s a fairly quiet girl, making her a great candidate for apartment or shared-wall living, and she adapts beautifully to different household dynamics. That said, a securely fenced yard is truly a must for her. Kennedy loves to explore the backyard on little sniffing expeditions, and when her nose finds something interesting, her focus can drift. While she knows her name and often responds, distractions can win — so her safety depends on having a space where she can roam freely without risk.

Stairs are a consideration for Kennedy. Ideally, her home would have few or no stairs, or a family willing to carry her when needed. She can sometimes manage indoor, carpeted stairs with encouragement, but going down is not something she’s comfortable with, and outdoor stairs are a definite no for her. Because of her past orthopedic surgeries, limiting stairs long-term is strongly recommended to keep her comfortable and confident.

Kennedy would thrive with a somewhat low-key owner who enjoys spending time at home and truly values companionship with their pets. She does wonderfully in her crate during the day and is calm, settled, and content — but she could also easily transition into an office environment. In fact, she would make an excellent office dog: happy to accept a few pets, then curl up on a soft bed with her beloved Benebone and snooze peacefully nearby.

She enjoys the freedom of a yard far more than structured walks, though she can potty on a leash when needed. Given the choice, Kennedy would much rather wander, sniff, and explore at her own pace in a fenced space where she feels safe and unhurried.

Above all else, Kennedy is one of those truly special dogs who has endured a lot without ever letting it harden her heart. Despite her long journey and medical challenges, she remains incredibly gentle, kind, and emotionally resilient. She has a way of quietly stealing your heart — not with big demands or flashy antics, but with her calm presence, soft eyes, and unwavering sweetness.

Kennedy’s forever family will truly hit the jackpot with her. In return for patience, security, and love, she will offer deep loyalty, peaceful companionship, and the kind of gentle devotion that makes every day feel a little softer.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Kennedy, please submit an adoption application for her today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
