Georgia’s Story

Georgia came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. Her breeder wanted her to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of her years being a spoiled pet.

Georgia is a laid-back, lighthearted, chill Pug who loves being able to snuggle her people. This little lady can be timid and display some nervous behaviors around new people and in environments.  You can often find Georgia requesting some snuggle time on the couch in hopes her favorite TV show is tuned in!  She relishes nap time as this super senior is all about relaxing in comfy spots and enjoying all the joys pet life has to offer.  When feeling a little sparky, Georgia will engage her stuffed piggie for some playtime; it truly is her favorite toy!   She will watch her foster sibling’s minimal shenanigans from the sidelines as she is WAY too mature to participate in such silly banter.  She would rather grab a spot on the couch or in a comfy bed quickly falling into a quick pug snooze.  After a little snooze, Georgia will take to the outdoors and sniff all around taking in the new smells and lush landscaping. When the weather permits, she will watch her foster mom work out in the yard or even accompany her on her daily errands.  She enjoys the company of humans and would love to spend every moment with them!  Georgia enjoys a daily (VERY short) stroll showing off her almost perfected leash skills; this little lady will let you know once she is done exercising!  After exhausting herself, slowing walking… Georgia will find a soft comfy bed to lay on or even better find a human to snuggle up next to! She is an overall content girl who goes with the flow, beats to her drum, and can make those who love her most giggle throughout the day.  As mentioned, Georgia currently lives with several furry foster siblings (a dog and a cat).  She can fit right into a pack as long as they are respectful but doesn’t pay much mind to either of them at all.  Georgia is experiencing a big transition and will need proper leadership and guidance to know what is expected in her adoptive home.  She is smart, a fast learner, and is motivated so we know Georgia will be quick to adapt to yet another new home with the proper leadership!  Georgia seems to get along well with every human, as she is happiest when she is around her people. She has a very easy-going and gentle disposition which makes it easy to adjust to being around all people and animals.  This little gem is just so happy and offers lots of love.  Her foster family believes she would be best in a home with dog-savvy, gentle, children of any age and a home with other balanced, relaxed furry members or equally as good as an only pet.  As with all of our dogs, we recommend slow introductions between dogs and supervision around children when introducing a new dog in your home to make sure both she and they are kept safe.

Georgia is doing extremely well with potty training and is almost completely trained; she will have an occasional accident but they truly are VERY few and far between. As long as her potty breaks are consistently timed, she does extremely well!  As with all of our dogs, any adopter will need to be able to and willing to offer her a consistent schedule and possibly work with her on a signal for potty.  Georgia is crate-trained, has not had any accidents but is not a huge fan of her crate but will tolerate it well. She overall does not like to be alone much and the separation from her people causes some anxiety as she will whine for a few minutes when crated. When her family happens to be away from the home, she is safely secure in her crate.  We think since Georgia loves to cuddle and snuggle her people, that she would love to share a bed with her adoptive family; that will greatly reduce her anxiety! For her safety, we recommend a similar schedule is kept for her when her people are away from the home and at night as she doesn’t know danger.

Medically, Georgia seems to be in good health!  She has been spayed, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, had a dental with extractions, microchipped, heartworm tested, and has been given a clean bill of health by our veterinarian! Georgia suffered from untreated UTIs in the past.  For ongoing healthy urinary tract maintenance, Georgia is given an Urinary special diet in addition to a daily cranberry supplement.  She is due for a urine recheck in October to ensure the current crystals have resolved themselves.

Georgia would do great in almost any single-family home.  She has not been able to figure out how to use the stairs so a multiple-floor style dwelling home would not be ideal for her unless a pair of loving arms are available when she needs them.  A ground-level apartment-style home with an easy-to-access adjacent grassy area would be okay for Georgia as she is an overall quiet dog.  A home with or without a fenced yard would be okay for Georgia as she is not overly active but should ALWAYS be secure in a leash and harness while outside.  We also think Georgia would love a low-key family that isn’t one for the hustle and bustle of a busy lifestyle.  Georgia just wants to be anywhere and everywhere her people are and would love a mom/dad who will allow morning kisses, short walks, couch time, nap time, and cuddle time. She just really loves all the people that will offer her attention.  We think she would love to go to the office with her new family!  She would need to be safe and secure in an office space (not allowed to wander).  Georgia is very happy to be near her humans and would relax in a comfy bed and nap that day away as the work hours pass.  You can’t take her to the office- that’s okay; she would love a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member!

Truly, Georgia is just looking for a family who will love and care for her and wants a shadow following them around 24/7.  Georgia is entering her retirement years and wants to keep things chill and be best friends!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
