Enzo’s Story

Enzo came into the SNAFU Rescue via a breeder release. His breeder wanted him to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Meet Enzo — the adorable, expressive, incredibly vocal French Bulldog who has plenty to say and absolutely no problem making sure you hear it!

Enzo is a young, happy, people-loving boy who is still figuring out this whole “pet life” thing. He’s playful, curious, affectionate, and full of personality, with a wonderfully goofy way of telling you exactly what he wants and needs. He’s still learning how to slow down, settle in, and understand what’s expected of him, so he’ll thrive with a family who can provide the patience, consistency, direction, and gentle leadership he needs to become the best version of himself.

Enzo absolutely adores people and has been wonderful with children ages 2–10. He’s friendly, social, and enthusiastic, and we think he would be happy with kids of just about any age. He also enjoys playing with other dogs and has done beautifully with every dog he’s met so far. Having a canine buddy may be especially beneficial for Enzo, as he seems to enjoy the companionship and confidence that comes from having a friend nearby.

Enzo is definitely a social boy and isn’t a fan of being left alone. He may loudly protest with some impressive Frenchie screams when his people leave, although he generally gets over it fairly quickly. Because of this, a home where someone is around much of the time — or where he has a canine companion with him — would be ideal. He’s still learning that being alone is okay and will need a family willing to help him build confidence and independence.

When it comes to playtime, Enzo is much more interested in chewing a good bone or wrestling with his furry friends than playing with stuffed toys. And when it’s finally time to rest, he has some very specific preferences: a nice, cool, hard surface is apparently far more luxurious than a fancy dog bed! He isn’t particularly interested in cozy beds or huge blankets in his kennel, which just makes his quirky little personality that much more endearing.

Enzo is a sweet, spirited, affectionate young Frenchie who is still learning the ropes but has all the makings of an amazing companion. Give him structure, companionship, patience, and plenty of love, and this handsome, hilarious boy will reward you with endless personality, playful antics, and lots of very enthusiastic opinions!

Enzo is still working on his potty training and learning that outside is the place to do his business. He does a great job of letting his foster family know when he needs to go out by giving a very enthusiastic Frenchie scream! With a consistent schedule, supervision, and continued guidance, he should continue making steady progress.

Enzo is actually quite good in his kennel and has never had a kennel accident. He especially seems to prefer his crate at night, likely because he enjoys the firm, cool surface. He will let you know — loudly and clearly — when he needs to be let out for a potty break. During the day, he can be left loose in a dog safe space for shorter periods and may occasionally have an accident, but he does not chew or get into things while he’s alone.

Enzo is still a young boy learning the rules of pet life, but he’s making progress and is wonderfully communicative about what he needs. With patience, consistency, and a predictable routine, he should continue becoming a well-mannered little companion.

Medically, Enzo seems to be in great health.  He has been neutered, had a BOAS surgery to correct his breathing, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, microchipped, and has been given the okay for adoption by our veterinarian!  He is a fluff so additional maintenance is required to keep him clean and sanitary.

Enzo would do well in a variety of loving homes, but one thing is especially important to this sweet, spirited boy: he needs a friend. Enzo is very much a “dogs dog” right now and would thrive with a playful, confident canine companion who can keep up with his energy, show him the ropes, and help him feel secure. A dog who is young or young-at-heart would be ideal, as Enzo can be a little persistent with older dogs and may bark at them when he’s ready to play.

Enzo would also love a person who is home for a good portion of the day; either a part-time or full-time work-from-home or stay-at-home family member or someone who can take him along to work. He is an incredibly devoted little shadow who likes to follow his person from room to room and periodically check in to make sure they’re still there. He would make a wonderful office buddy, although his idea of workplace etiquette is making sure you never disappear for a bathroom break or meeting without his approval! Enzo is a persistent little project manager who will happily keep you on schedule and make sure everyone is accounted for.

Enzo has come a long way since arriving in rescue. He was initially nervous about stairs and needed to be carried, but with patience and encouragement, he has mastered the stairs to the bed, couch, and front door. He’s still a little hesitant going down from the couch, so continued encouragement and supervision will help him build confidence.

This speedy little guy loves to play tug-of-war and tag with his canine friends and is surprisingly athletic for a Bulldog. He’s incredibly gentle with children and loves sitting beside them while they play. He doesn’t jump up on people and often offers a couple of sweet little kisses to let you know he loves you. While he hasn’t quite mastered the art of cuddling yet, he absolutely loves attention — especially head scratches, ear rubs, gentle kisses, and smooshing his adorable face against your hand or yours. He also loves making eye contact with his people and staying close.

Enzo is wonderfully adaptable and can even enjoy car rides, especially when he can sit beside his person and keep an eye on them. If he’s riding in the back, he may occasionally let out one of his signature screams just to make sure his human hasn’t disappeared. And while he isn’t a flight risk, he does enjoy finding a quiet, private spot when nature calls — so supervision during potty time will remain important and a full secured fenced-in yard would be a huge plus.

One thing you should know about Enzo: the vacuum, broom, and Swiffer are his sworn enemies. He will wage an enthusiastic little war against any cleaning appliance that dares enter his territory!

Enzo is still learning, still gaining confidence, and still discovering how wonderful life can be. What he already knows is that he loves his people, loves his dogs, loves to play, and wants to be involved in absolutely everything. He has a kind, gentle soul, an enormous personality, and enough Frenchie opinions to keep his family laughing every single day. He’s looking for a home that will give him companionship, structure, patience, and plenty of opportunities to be the devoted, hilarious little shadow he was meant to be.

If you feel like your family might be the perfect forever home for Enzo, please submit an adoption application for him today!!

disclaimer

Please note that it will likely be at *least* a 3–4 week minimum before you hear back from us after submitting an adoption application.

We typically accept for new applications for a period of 7 days or until 20 applications have been received for any newly available dog. After that time period, the applications are sent on to the foster family for review and that usually takes from at *least* a few days to a week to sort through the applications, etc. Most of our dogs receive several applications so this process does take some time, especially on dogs who are more popular for one reason or another.

We do require phone interviews to be conducted between the foster family and potential adopters, vet reference checks and a home visit to be conducted for all potential adopters, if they are selected as the top choice applicant, which will also take time to complete. That being said, we do always let our applicants know if they are chosen or not.

IF you happen to not be chosen, please don’t feel discouraged as, again, we usually get several applications for each dog, and sometimes it can be very difficult to choose just one adopter. In those cases, we usually offer to keep the applications for adoption on file for any future dogs that come into our rescue.

ALL adopters are required to come and pick up their adopted dogs in person from the dog’s foster home (we do not ship any of our dogs). Please have road/driving transport plans in place to pick up an adopted dog before you apply! While we are not against adopters flying a foster dog in cabin on a commercial flight, please keep in mind that many are not good candidates for flying due to size and/or being a brachycephalic/short nosed breed.

If an adopter cannot keep one of our grads, for any reason at all, at ANY point in time, they *must* be willing and able to return their adopted dog to his/her original foster home, despite distance and any costs that would be required to do so.
