Coco’s Story

Coco came into the SNAFU Rescue via a private party. His prior family wanted his medical needs to be properly addressed and to be placed in a loving home and spend the rest of his years being a spoiled pet.

Coco, affectionately known as Peanut, is an enthusiastic, active, playful, social, and incredibly happy Frenchie boy who approaches life with endless optimism. His philosophy is simple: every dog he meets is just a friend he hasn’t made yet! Friendly, outgoing, and full of personality, Coco brings joy wherever he goes.

This handsome boy loves exploring every corner of his surroundings and is always curious about what’s happening around him. While he enjoys investigating the world, you’ll most often find him hanging out with his foster pack. He absolutely adores canine companionship, and his favorite buddy just happens to be the resident female Frenchie.

Coco has a special love for the outdoors and is never shy about requesting extra time outside. Whether he’s soaking up all the interesting smells, trying to convince another dog to play, barking playfully at his much larger Boxer foster brother, or simply sitting back and taking it all in, he is happiest when he can enjoy the fresh air. When the zoomies strike, Coco transforms into a furry little Energizer Bunny, bouncing around with pure delight—especially if he can recruit a friend for a game of chase.

Like any proper Frenchie, Coco has mastered the art of balancing playtime with relaxation. He loves chewing on bones and taking long, luxurious naps. Although he hasn’t had access to plush or squeaky toys in his foster home thanks to a toy-destroying Boxer sibling, we’re quite certain he would be a huge fan. For such a young dog, Coco takes his naps very seriously. While he’ll happily claim any cozy bed or soft blanket, his favorite place to snooze is curled up on the couch alongside his humans and canine friends. He’s a world-class snuggler and would happily spend hours cuddled up beside those he loves.

Once he’s recharged, though, it’s game on! Coco has a serious case of FOMO and believes he should be included in absolutely everything happening in the house. Whether it’s following his foster siblings around, supervising household activities, or joining family time, Coco wants to be part of the action. He is especially devoted to his furry companions and thrives when surrounded by other dogs.

One of Coco’s most impressive qualities is his exceptional social nature. He has participated in several outings and consistently demonstrates excellent dog-meeting manners. New dogs, new people, new environments—Coco embraces them all with confidence and enthusiasm. His cheerful disposition helps him get along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, ages, and genders. He is not an ideal candidate for cats or other small animals as he likes the chase. 

Like many young, social dogs, Coco is still learning that not everyone shares his enthusiasm for constant interaction. He occasionally forgets about personal space and can get a little overexcited during play, but he responds well to correction and is learning appropriate boundaries. He has already learned to respect the leadership of the dogs in his foster home and continues to make great progress with guidance.

Coco truly is a pack dog through and through. He takes comfort in the presence of other dogs, mirrors their behavior, and quickly learns household routines by following their lead. Because of this, having at least one canine companion in his forever home is not optional—it is essential for his happiness and success. A home with multiple dogs would be even better, as Coco absolutely thrives in a social canine environment.

While dogs are definitely his favorite, Coco is also wonderful with people. He enjoys affection, loves being petted, and welcomes attention without being overly demanding. He can become excited and occasionally jump up to say hello, but he’s responding nicely to redirection and continues to improve.

Although there are no children in his foster home, Coco has shown a natural interest in kids during outings. He often perks up and listens when he hears neighborhood children playing and has gravitated toward children he has encountered. Because of his friendly, easygoing temperament, we believe he would do well with dog-savvy, gentle, and respectful children of any age.

Coco is the complete package for someone looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, social companion. He would flourish in a home with other friendly dogs, plenty of opportunities for play and adventure, and a family that will include him in daily life. Slow introductions to resident pets and children are always recommended, and supervision should be provided to ensure everyone remains safe and comfortable as relationships develop.

If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate little shadow who will keep you smiling, make friends wherever he goes, and fill your home with laughter, Coco may just be the perfect addition to your family. 

Coco is nearly potty trained and has done very well in his foster home. On the rare occasion he has an accident, it is typically right by the door when he’s waiting to go outside and his humans miss his signal. As with all rescue dogs, his future family should be patient and committed to maintaining his success as he adjusts to a new home, routine, and environment. Being a young dog, Coco thrives with consistency, regular potty breaks, and clear communication.

Because his foster mom works from home, Coco has had very little kennel time and currently enjoys free roam privileges at night. Most evenings, you’ll find him snuggled up in bed with his humans and his favorite female foster sibling. He is an exceptionally polite bed buddy, content to sleep wherever he’s placed as long as he can stay warm and close to the people he loves. This sweet cuddle bug would be thrilled to share a bed with his forever family, as being close to his trusted humans is one of his favorite comforts.

Medically, Coco is in great health! He was underweight when he first came into rescue, but that was due to his difficulties eating due to a very obstructed airway. Since his BOAS surgery he’s healed very nicely and had no problems keeping up with his boxer brother as they run in the yard. He previously required soft food to avoid regurgitation, but his BOAS surgery has relieved his airway issues and he’s now able to eat hard kibble. Boy does this guy love to eat!! He has been neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, updated on vaccinations/dewormings, and has been given the okay to adopt by our veterinarian!  He would benefit from a daily high-quality joint supplement.  

Coco is the kind of dog who could thrive in almost any loving home! He has mastered stairs, tackles new adventures with confidence, and is generally fearless when it comes to exploring the world around him. Whether he’s joining you for backyard fun, supervising household chores, or curling up for a cozy evening on the couch, Coco simply wants to be where his people are. One thing he has made very clear, however, is that he is not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must.

While Coco stays close to his foster parents and has not shown any desire to wander, a securely fenced yard would be ideal for his safety—especially if a tempting bunny or neighborhood cat happens to cross his path. Apartment living could be challenging, particularly in multi-floor buildings with shared walls, as Coco occasionally uses his voice to invite his canine friends to play. He responds well when corrected, but if left unattended, his enthusiastic barking could be disruptive to nearby neighbors.

Coco could potentially make a great office companion if allowed, though as a young dog he would need time, training, and consistency to learn workplace expectations. He has been spoiled by having a foster mom who works from home and provides frequent potty breaks throughout the day. That said, we believe he would adapt well to a more traditional work schedule as long as he has a comfortable place to rest, a canine companion to keep him company, and arrangements for a midday potty break.

Life with Coco is full of laughter, companionship, and plenty of affection. He is a playful, social boy who wants to be included in family activities, whether that means tagging along on adventures, playing with his dog friends, or snuggling up at the end of the day. He has settled beautifully into foster care and continues to show what a joyful, adaptable, and loving companion he is. Coco is still a young dog, so his future family should be prepared for all the fun, energy, and ongoing guidance that come with raising a young pup—but the reward is a loyal best friend who will keep a smile on your face every day.
